Senior Vice-President, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer
Amanda Ward is BC Hydro's Senior Vice-President, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, responsible for BC Hydro's legal services, compliance and corporate secretary teams. She leads a team that supports both the Board and Executive Team, provides legal advice and services for a range of services and departments at BC Hydro, and manages compliance with access to information and privacy laws.
Amanda joined BC Hydro's Legal Services team in 2010, after five years with the British Columbia Transmission Corporation. While at BCTC and BC Hydro, she provided a wide range of legal support with a strong focus on transmission-related, commercial and regulatory matters. In 2017, she became a Senior Manager in the Legal Services team, leading the lawyers focused on regulatory and commercial issues.
In 2023, she joined the executive team of a gas utility that serves northern B.C., where she led several teams, in addition to providing legal services. Amanda returned to BC Hydro in August 2026, bringing broader perspectives on the energy sector in B.C. Prior to her role at BCTC, she was in private practice with a Vancouver law firm for six years, practicing as a corporate and commercial solicitor.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University.
