Eligibility
Your building may be eligible if it:
- Is a purpose-built market rental building.
- Is located in the BC Hydro service area, including The City of New Westminster.
- Has eligible common-area interior and exterior lighting.
The following buildings aren’t ineligible: Strata buildings, co-ops, and buildings already receiving incentives through our other programs (e.g. BESI, SIP), or projects that include non-lighting measures or mechanical upgrades.
How it works
- Register: Submit a quick online form through LandlordBC to confirm that your building is eligible.
- Free onsite audit: Our program contractor visits your building to assess existing lighting and identify any opportunities for upgrades and improvements.
- Review your business case: You receive a clear proposal outlining eligible upgrades, incentive amounts, and your net cost.
- Installation: Once approved, the contractor completes the retrofit with minimal disruptions to tenants.
- Payment: We'll pay incentives directly to your contractor so that you only have to pay the remaining balance.
