Electric vehicle incentives in B.C.

Electric vehicles (EV) come with many benefits, but the initial cost may be a barrier to making the switch. Rebates and incentives are available to reduce the cost, helping you drive electric.

Federal vehicle rebates

The federal Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) Program was paused on January 12, 2025. Businesses may still apply for the federal Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) Program.

B.C.'s vehicle rebates

The Government of B.C.'s CleanBC Go Electric Passenger Vehicle Rebate program is now paused.

CleanBC's Go Electric Rebates provide rebates on trucks, buses, motorcycle, cargo e-bikes and more.

Rebates up to $2,000 are available if you're buying or leasing a motorcycle or neighbourhood zero-emission vehicles for personal or business use. Rebates for cargo e-bikes, on-road medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, utility vehicles, airport and port specialty vehicles and some low-speed vehicles (non-NZEV) are available to businesses, non-profits, or public sector organizations.

SCRAP-IT

The BC SCRAP-IT program offers incentives up to $300 when you scrap your existing gas-powered vehicles. These incentives can be put toward the cost of an EV or other low-carbon form of transportation. The incentives apply to purchases of both new and used EVs.

Charger rebates

B.C.'s EV charger rebate program provides funding towards the purchase and installation of eligible charger models.

If you're looking to purchase and install a Level 2 EV charger at home, you may qualify for a rebate. These rebates can cover up to 50% of the cost, to a maximum of $350 for the purchase and installation of a charger. Offer applies for chargers installed at single-family homes, row homes, and duplexes.

There are two provincial rebate options to help apartment, condo and townhome complexes support EV charging.

EV Ready rebates

A set of three cohesive rebates to support the costs of creating and implementing an EV Ready plan for your building. This includes purchasing and installing EV chargers.

Standalone EV charger rebate

A rebate to purchase and install Level 2 networked EV chargers at residential parking spaces in your complex. This can cover up to 50% of the costs to a maximum of $2,000 per charger. A maximum of $14,000 in rebates is available per complex. Pre-approval is required before purchasing and installing an eligible EV charger.

There are provincial incentives for the purchase and installation of eligible EV chargers at workplaces for use by employees.

Rebates up to 50% of the cost to a maximum of $2,000 per charger are available while funding lasts. For multiple charger installations, this rebate can cover up to $14,000 per workplace. A business can apply for a maximum of four of their workplace sites, resulting in a maximum project rebate of up to $56,000.
