Accessibility
Let's talk accessibility
We're committed to identifying, removing and preventing barriers across our services and programs for our customers, job seekers and our employees. We work with people with disabilities and learn from lived experience to better understand barriers and improve accessibility across our workplace, services and processes. What we learn through this work helps guide how we continue improving accessibility over time.
Our Accessibility Plan
Our second Accessibility Plan [PDF, 1.5 MB] was developed in alignment with the Accessible B.C. Act. This plan reflects how our thinking to this work has evolved over the last three years. Building on what we learned through our first Plan, this plan reflects a deeper understanding of how accessibility barriers surface and are experienced across our workplace, services, communications, and physical environments. Feedback from employees, customers, our Accessibility Committee, and community partner organizations helped us identify opportunities to improve accessibility and strengthen our understanding of the systems, processes, and everyday decisions that shape people's experiences. The plan outlines five priority areas and the actions we will take over the next three years to continue improving accessibility across BC Hydro.
The five priority areas are:
- Normalize disability in our workplace
- Strengthen the way we communicate and share information
- Enhance our physical infrastructure to reduce barriers and improve access
- Provide more equitable and accessible employment systems
- Provide more equitable and accessible programs and services
The plan will be updated every three years, in accordance with the Accessible B.C. Act.
