About our public EV charging network

As more people make the switch to electric vehicles (EVs) in B.C., our network of public chargers is expanding too.

By Spring 2026, we'll have over 800 charging ports. This will provide reliable EV charging for people in communities across B.C. and along travel corridors, with extra support in busy urban areas.

Throughout our network, you will find many sites with DC fast chargers, Level 2 chargers, or a mixture of both depending on the location.

How to use our EV chargers

Our EV help centre answers several common questions about charging your EV at a BC Hydro public charging site.

How to charge with your connector

Our EV sites usually support fast charging with CCS (Combined Charging System) and CHAdeMO connectors, with NACS (North American Charging Standard) connectors supported at newer locations. Some sites also offer Level 2 charging for CCS and J1772 connectors.

Check your user manual to see which connector types your EV can use.

For fast charging, simply use the matching connector at the site.

For Level 2 charging, CCS connectors can be used directly, and EVs with CHAdeMO connectors usually have separate J1772 connectors.

For fast charging, sites with NACS connectors can be used without an adapter. If the site only has CCS connectors, you'll need to use a CCS to NACS adapter, which is available at most dealerships; we recommend using manufacturer-approved adapters as third-party ones may cause charging issues.

For Level 2 charging, you'll need to use a J1772 to NACS adapter.

EVs with CCS or J1772 connectors can support Level 2 charging. Simply use the matching connector at the site.
