Training information for contractors

If you’re a contractor who’s working with us, you’ll need to complete required training to get up to speed with our hazards and procedures that relate to your work for BC Hydro.
The resources below will guide you through accessing and completing your training.
Access the learning management system
Our learning management system is called SuccessFactors Learning. All contractors require a profile to be set up to access it.
- If you’re a new contractor, you’ll receive an email with instructions to activate your access to SuccessFactors Learning as part of your onboarding process.
- If you started working with us before December 1, 2024, your profile should be in our system, and you would have received an email letting you know that we have a new learning management system.
- Refer to our quick start guide and the job aids below to help you access and use SuccessFactors Learning.
When you log in to SuccessFactors Learning, you’ll need to use the email address associated with your profile (i.e., the email address that the instructions were sent to). If you need to change this email address, contact your BC Hydro representative and they can update it.
Complete your required training
Mandatory training requirements for contractors vary based on the work you’re doing for us. Your BC Hydro representative will provide you with a list of the training you’re required to do. If you haven’t received it, please ask them.

Instructions for contractors who require power system training
Contractors who will work on our power system are required to get training and authorization for Power System Safety Protection (PSSP) and/or Work Protection Practices (WPP). The courses you’re required to complete will be included in your training requirements list.
In SuccessFactors Learning, you can register for instructor-led courses and complete web-based training and exams.
Instructions for web-based PSSP and WPP training:
- If you’re new to BC Hydro as a contractor, you’ll receive an email notification from PSSP/WPP Manager (the worker authorization system) to confirm that your profile has been activated.
- At the end of your online exam in SuccessFactors Learning, you’ll see a reminder to select your authorizing manager(s). An authorizing manager must approve your exam results.
- No action is required if the selection has already been made.
- If the selection hasn’t been made, you’ll get an email asking you to take this action. Ask your BC Hydro representative to help you select an authorizing manager for each exam.
- It will take about 30 minutes after completing your exam for the authorizing manager to receive a notification to review your exam result.
- Once your exam result has been approved by the authorizing manager, you’ll receive an automated email from PSSP/WPP Manager to confirm your authorization to work on our power system.
