Funding for energy assessments

The Partners in Indigenous Energy Efficiency & Resilience program offers support to Indigenous Governing Bodies that are coordinating home energy upgrades in multiple homes for their community members.

Access energy assessment funding (while funding lasts) to inform the planning of energy-efficiency improvements for multiple homes in your community. Energy assessments help guide the planning of upgrades by looking at how a home uses energy and offering recommendations to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.

Project management funding is also available through this offer.

The offer

Indigenous Governing Bodies can receive funding of up to $500 per home for energy assessments or building condition assessments with an energy efficiency and climate component, subject to available funding. This offer is designed for Indigenous Governing Bodies planning home energy upgrades across multiple homes in their community.

Project management funding is also available to support additional staff or hire external consultants. This funding is calculated at 10% of the project’s energy assessment funding scope.

How it works

Indigenous Governing Bodies who participate in this offer will need to designate a project lead who will work with one of our Energy Coaches to plan and implement the assessments in their community.

The project lead is responsible for:

  1. Coordinating assessments with their team and homeowners.

  2. Compiling home addresses and other relevant details for each home where an assessment is completed.

  3. Submitting final documents via the Conservation and Energy Management (CEM) Hub once work is completed.

After the energy assessments are completed, the project lead and housing department will have valuable information on projects with a retrofit component. Funding for these projects is available through our Partners in Indigenous Energy Efficiency & Resilience energy efficiency retrofit incentive offer.
