Probabilistic Studies

Introduction

Probabilistic reliability assessment has become increasingly important since the electric utility industry entered the deregulation era and particularly since massive power outage events happened across the world in past years. Although a considerable number of academic papers have been published in this area for years, very limited efforts have been devoted in the utility environment. BC Hydro has performed extensive practical reliability studies in system planning and asset management and obtained huge benefits. We have chosen to post selected technical reports and publications that have been completed at BC Hydro. The purpose is to provide a resource to the industry and interested parties. However, we may not be able to answer questions about the reports posted or reliability questions in general due to resource constraints. We will add a criteria and guidelines section at a later date.
