Transmission plans & reports

Image of transmission lines

BC Hydro is planning for the future by ensuring B.C.’s electricity system has the necessary capacity to meet the needs of our growing province.

Central to meeting those needs is a reliable transmission system which acts as the backbone of the B.C. economy. Timely investment in this critical infrastructure is essential to maintaining access to the reliable, efficient and clean energy we all depend on.

The framework for our transmission planning is provided by the Clean Energy Act and the Energy Plan [PDF].

Transmission regulatory filings

As of July 5, 2010, the Clean Energy Act consolidated BC Hydro and BC Transmission Corporation to provide a single entity that plans and delivers electricity to B.C. Our transmission projects fall under the regulatory jurisdiction of the B.C. Utilities Commission (BCUC).

To learn more about past and current regulatory applications regarding transmission projects and tariffs, visit our regulatory archives page, or search for specific regulatory processes at the BCUC website.
