Coquitlam Pole and Power Line Replacement

We're replacing aging poles and power lines between Como Lake Substation in Coquitlam and Barnard Substation in Burnaby to ensure we can continue delivering reliable power to your community.

What's new

March 2026

Starting April 2026, pole and power line replacement will resume along the north side of Como Lake Avenue at Linton Street in Coquitlam. Construction will move west, continuing along Broadway in Burnaby. Some additional vegetation trimming may be required. Work on the north side of the corridor is expected to be complete by summer 2026.

Starting August 2026, pre-work (including brush clearing and pruning) is expected to begin on the south side of Como Lake Avenue between Montrose and Blue Mountain Street. Pole and power line replacement on the south side of the corridor will follow.

We're replacing wooden poles and overhead power lines between Como Lake Substation in Coquitlam and Barnard Substation near the Burnaby/Coquitlam border.

Many of the wooden poles and power lines between Como Lake and Barnard substations are nearing end-of-life. Replacing these structures will help ensure service reliability for your community.

We're replacing poles and power lines along a corridor between Lougheed Highway and Como Lake Avenue to the east and Gaglardi Way and Broadway to the west.

We've completed work on the north side as far west as Como Lake Avenue and Linton Street. We'll resume work on the north side, moving west and continuing into Burnaby.

We'll also replace poles and power lines along the south side of Como Lake Avenue between Montrose and Blue Mountain streets.
