Electrification incentives for industry
Make the switch to clean electricity
We provide resources, funding, and incentives to help industrial customers, such as in oil and gas, forestry, and mining, as well as off-road transportation and district energy, switch all or parts of your operations to clean hydroelectricity instead of fossils fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

General eligibility
To be eligible you must meet the following basic requirements. Note: Each of the specific offers has its own eligibility criteria that are outlined below.
- Must currently be charged under BC Hydro’s Transmission Service Rate or Large General Service Rate.
- The project must lead to an increase in incremental electrical load.
- The project must lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through switching from a fossil fuel to clean hydroelectricity.

Available offers
Eligible customers can take advantage of a variety of incentive options that can be combined to help identify, investigate, and implement low carbon electrification opportunities, these include:
- Electrification roadmaps: Energy studies to help you determine your fuel-switching opportunities over the long term.
- Pre-feasibility assessments and feasibility studies: Funding, tools, and expertise to help you identify and develop projects.
- Demonstration or pilot projects: Funding towards the research and development of new technologies or pilot projects that help support the use of electricity instead of fossil fuels.
- Project incentives: Financial assistance to help reduce the costs to undertake specific fuel switching projects.

These energy studies are targeted to eligible customers who are taking a long-term view of their operations and looking to develop a strategic plan to switch from fossil fuels to clean electricity.
We'll provide 50% funding and resources (up to $30,000) towards the total cost of a study.
We provide support for assessments to help you identify and develop project opportunities.
We'll provide 100% funding and resources (up to $5,000) towards the total cost of an assessment that includes a high-level investigation or scoping study used to determine if a Feasibility Study is worthwhile.
We provide funding and expertise to develop specific projects to investment grade level.
We'll provide 100% funding and resources (up to $75,000) towards the total cost of an energy study that includes an analysis of the project's technical, financial, and schedule considerations prior to implementation, and provides estimates of increased electricity consumption and GHG emissions reductions to Grade 10 (+/-10%) and implementation costs to within Grade 30 (+/-30%).
Incentives provide financial assistance to overcome cost or financial barriers that impede projects with longer payback periods or higher operating costs.
Incentives will be determined on the basis of the individual project characteristics.
We provide funding for the research and development of technology, or pilot projects, that may enable you to switch from fossil fuels to clean electricity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The pilot must use technologies that are new or not widely used in B.C.
