Statement regarding Lauren Woolstencroft

VANCOUVER – BC Hydro President and CEO Dave Cobb, issued the following statement today regarding the induction of Lauren Woolstencroft, paralympian and BC Hydro employee, into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame.

“Lauren’s remarkable performance during the 2010 Paralympic Games inspired our nation and our province and on behalf of the entire BC Hydro family and all of her co-workers, I am pleased to congratulate Lauren on her induction to the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame – an incredible honour that is well-deserved.

While in my role at VANOC during the 2010 Winter Games I watched Lauren with pride, and now I am pleased and honoured to call her a colleague.

Lauren has been an incredible ambassador for BC Hydro. She lives and promotes the conservation ethic that we value so highly at BC Hydro, and contributes on a daily basis to the operation of our company.

The drive and commitment she has shown in balancing a career with intense training is truly remarkable and has led to great success on the ski hill and at BC Hydro.

With the rest of the province, all of BC Hydro is celebrating Lauren’s news today. Thanks to this recognition, Lauren’s legacy will live on forever and it is with great honour that we call her a BC Hydro employee.”
