Trades work placements for Indigenous candidates

Discover what a career in the trades could look like for you through BC Hydro’s 16-week paid work experience program. You'll have the opportunity to explore different trades while building practical skills through a mix of classroom learning and hands-on experience alongside BC Hydro crews.

As part of the program, you'll work in a supportive environment, learn from experienced tradespeople and gain valuable insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of skilled trades careers. Placement locations are based on your interests and location, as well as team availability and workforce needs across the province. Experiences could include the following trades:

  • Power line technicians
  • Communications protection and control technologists
  • Winders
  • Electricians
  • Fleet mechanics
  • Meter technicians
