Indigenous Trades Pathway Program

Trades work placements for Indigenous candidates

This program offers you the chance to try BC Hydro trades through a 16-week paid work experience program. Training includes classroom learning and job experience placements with BC Hydro crews in various locations across the province. Locations will depend on applicant interest and location, team availability, and workforce needs.

Previous participants have worked at our generating stations and offices across B.C., including Fort St. John, Revelstoke, Fraser Valley and the Lower Mainland.

Here are a few roles that have been included in the past:

  • Power line technicians
  • Generation mechanics and machinists
  • Generation plant operators
  • Communications protection and control technologists
  • Electricians
  • Fleet mechanics
  • Meter technicians
