Fiscal year-end checklist: Get those projects completed

Construction site of an office renovation. Ceiling panels are being removed, with a ladder nearby. With important project deadlines this month, double-check that you have all documentation submitted and to talk to us now if you require a project deadline extension.

Over the past fiscal, we've funded 544 projects, 525 studies

It's the near of another fiscal year and yes, it's been busy. Did you know?

Members have helped us deliver on 426 business energy saving incentives projects and 118 self-serve incentives projects for more than 20 gigawatt hours of energy savings.

You've delivered 525 energy assessments and energy studies for customers across the commercial, MURB, industrial, and social housing sectors. Along the way, we've added 160 new members – welcome to the team! – managed 215 referrals, added 865 products to the e.Catalog, and dealt with over 7,000 member emails.

Our 30% incentive bonus probably had a lot to do with how busy a year it's been. So we've decided to extend the offer to a new submission deadline of February 11, 2027. Learn more about the offer extension.

The Government of BC, meanwhile, just announced that it's renewing its CleanBC supports for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in social non-profit housing.

Let's double-check projects facing deadlines this month

Now that we're at the end of another fiscal year, please take the time to ensure that the processing of projects goes smoothly to avoid delays.

Here are a few ways to ensure that happens:

  • Check and double-check that you've submitted all project documentation.
  • If you think you need an extension on a project deadline, let BC Hydro know as early as possible.
  • If you've installed a product that's not on the approved list, give BC Hydro a heads-up. It may still qualify and get added to the list.

Here are a few other things to know around our key programs.

Business energy savings program (BESI)

When a customer's application for an incentive is submitted, you're required to select an estimated project completion date. Based on the date selected, you'll see a message indicating the time window – with specific dates included – for application submissions.

In many cases, you'll find that projects must be completed – that means installed, invoiced and the application declared complete in the CEM Hub  – on or by March 31, 2026.

How can you help? Ensure that the project work has been completed. Have the project invoiced, and work with your customer to declare their projects online before the March 31 deadline.

Can't complete the project in time? Please reach out to the Alliance before the end of March to request an extension to the customer's application. If your customer had a bonus incentive applied to their application, this will carry over as long as we're able to extend the application before year end.

Note the submission date range. Take note of the application's declaration date range before attempting to declare. Declaring a project outside of the application date range will cause the application to terminate. To avoid this issue, don't declare projects outside of the dates indicated.

March 14 and the self-serve incentive program (SIP)

Customers involved in the SIP program must have their projects completed and declared online by end of day March 14, 2026. For SIP, March 15 to March 31 is a blackout period where customers are unable to declare their projects online.

Vendors involved in SIP projects should take note of the expected completion dates of their projects and review with their customers if an extension request is required. Some customers may be able to request a submission in their applications online. If unavailable, send an email with the project file number and customer name to request an extension.

Custom projects, energy audits, and feasibility studies

The same deadlines as SIP also apply to custom projects, energy audits ,and feasibility studies. All projects must be completed by end-of-day on March 14, as there's a blackout period from March 15 to March 31.

Reach out to us early, before the deadline

It's about to get even busier than usual. Please reach out to us as early as possible with your questions or requests for extension so we may accommodate you.
