SURREY: BC Hydro is enhancing its electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging hub in South Surrey, increasing capacity so up to 12 EVs can charge at the same time.

The upgraded site is in the parking lot of the South Surrey Superstore at 2332 160 Street and now includes six 180-kilowatt chargers. These chargers can add up to 180-kilometres of driving range to an average EV in about 10 minutes.

Through power-sharing technology, each unit can serve two vehicles at once by splitting output. For example, a 180-kilowatt charger can supply two vehicles with 90-kilowatts each. This allows up to 12 EVs to use these chargers at once. The chargers are equipped with CCS, CHAdeMO and NACS connectors to accommodate a wide range of EVs.

BC Hydro has nine additional EV charging sites in Surrey including, Surrey Arts Centre, North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex, Guildford Recreation Centre, Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex, Panorama Place, ICBC Claims Centre, South Surrey Park & Ride, Surrey Tynehead, and Cloverdale Public Parking. Together, these sites provide a combined 95 charging ports.
