Power to be restored in Old Fort

FORT ST. JOHN: Work to rebuild a power line taken out by a landslide in Old Fort is nearly complete, and BC Hydro expects to have power restored to customers in the area on Monday evening.

Fifty-seven customers in Old Fort have been without power since Oct. 6 when a landslide damaged the power line that was supplying the community.

Last week, the Peace River Regional District issued BC Hydro permits to enter into the area and begin restoration work. Since then, BC Hydro has worked around the clock to install 45 new power poles and restring 3,300 metres of power line.

BC Hydro understands that this is a challenging time for people living in the Old Fort area, and is hoping to provide those customers with some relief. It has applied to the BC Utilities Commission to provide bill credits to customers who were evacuated due to the landslide. If the application is approved by the Commission, credits will be automatically applied to customers' accounts for the electricity consumed during the period they were out of their homes.
