Power Smart Forum informs and inspires
Posted by Simi Heer
More than 1,300 energy and business professionals are gathering in downtown Vancouver this week to learn about incorporating energy efficiency into their business practices at the Power Smart Forum.
They will be joined by leading energy and environmental experts from around the world.
The Power Smart Forum features free sessions and workshops for delegates from B.C.'s industrial, commercial and government sectors. The theme of this year's forum is around building tomorrow's green economy and preparing for the innovation and long-term competitive advantage that the economy will bring to B.C. We will need the leadership, insight and engagement of our business customers to meet the ambitious energy efficiency and conservation goals we have for our province.
Two plenary sessions will feature a candid discussion on the challenges and opportunities faced by organizations looking to make conservation and efficiency a part of their everyday business practices.
For the first plenary session, BC Hydro's deputy CEO and executive vice-president Bev Van Ruyven will be joined by three chief executive officers – Rick Antonson, Tourism Vancouver; David Helliwell, Pulse Energy; and Wal Van Lierop, Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital – for a discussion on capitalizing on the green economy and thriving during a time of innovation, opportunity and change.
For the second plenary session, Greg Reimer, BC Hydro's executive vice-president of Transmission and Distribution will host a session on long-term success in the green marketplace. Greg will be joined by Jonathan Rhone of Nexterra Systems; Brenda Reid-Kuecks of Ecotrust Canada and Mayor Dianne Watts from the City of Surrey.
Get ready for three information-packed and inspirational days!
