New Chair Appointed to BC Hydro Board

VICTORIA – Dan Doyle has been appointed chair of the BC Hydro Board of Directors, Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources Minister Blair Lekstrom announced today.

"Mr. Doyle's contributions to the province over the last 35 years make him a natural fit for the BC Hydro team," said Lekstrom. "His experience with government, stakeholders and the public sector demonstrates his leadership skills."

Mossadiq Umedaly is stepping down after serving as chair of BC Hydro since 2007. Lekstrom thanked Mr. Umedaly for his hard work and dedication to the corporation.

"Mr. Umedaly has provided strong leadership at the corporation during his tenure and was instrumental in the implementation of government's second Energy Plan," said Lekstrom.

Doyle has most recently been the executive vice president for Large Venue Construction for VANOC and brings a record of success and accomplishment to the BC Hydro Board. Prior to that, Doyle was deputy minister of transportation and oversaw some of the Province's landmark construction projects and programs. Doyle also served as chairman for Rapid Transit 2000, the company responsible for building the Millennium Line extension to Vancouver's rapid transit system.
