Boost your business' efficiency with our new integrated energy audit

BC Hydro's new integrated energy audit helps you customize your area of focus and uncover more opportunities.

Energy audit now available to industrial and large commercial customers

We're always looking for smart ways to help our industrial and large commercial customers maximize the energy efficiency of their facilities now, and for the foreseeable future. This is because we don't just want to reduce energy usage in the short-term – we also aim to reduce future loads on B.C.'s power grid.

That's why we've replaced our industrial-only plant-wide audit with the industrial and large commercial customer-friendly integrated energy audit.

More flexibility, more opportunities

If you're an eligible customer, you can now get up to 100% funding for a BC Hydro Alliance energy consultant to conduct an energy audit of your facility. The integrated energy audit offers much more flexibility and customization than before, so instead of covering an entire facility, we can now focus on opportunities in specific areas or systems, which have grown to include the following, beside energy efficiency:

  • Load displacement
  • Demand response
  • Electrification

How it works

  1. Use the BC Hydro Alliance of Energy Professionals to find an energy consultant who can work with you to decide on the size and type of audit you want to conduct.
  2. Reach out to your Key Account Manager or Regional Energy Manager to discuss your audit goals. If your business is eligible, they'll arrange for you and your energy consultant to review your goals with a BC Hydro representative in a pre-proposal meeting.
  3. Submit your application along with your energy consultant's proposal.
  4. Confirm BC Hydro approval and arrange for the energy consultant to conduct the audit.
  5. Await a report from your energy consultant that includes:
    1. An analysis of your facility's systems and equipment, including a breakdown of the energy used within your facility.
    2. Opportunities for improved energy efficiency and energy management. These will help you prioritize your next steps to achieve larger, long-term savings and energy management goals.
    3. No-cost and low-cost tips to improve your facility's energy efficiency.
  6. Attend a final presentation by your energy expert and a representative from BC Hydro to review the report findings and discuss opportunities. We'll then process your study funding payment, which is typically sent directly to your energy consultant.

Is your business eligible?

To qualify, your business must use more than two gigawatt-hours of electricity per year.
