Scott Road substation rebuild project

Surrey is one of the fastest-growing regions in Canada. To support this growth and electrification in the North Surrey area, we're redeveloping the Scott Road Substation.

When complete, the new substation will power up to 17,500 additional homes.

What's new

October 2025

While we work on the design of the new substation and geotechnical studies, we're also starting to prepare the property by removing vegetation and an existing structure.

To ensure we continue to provide reliable electricity in North Surrey, we're redeveloping Scott Road Substation.

The old substation on 99 Avenue near Scott Road, which was originally built in 1950, was decommissioned in 2024. In order to redevelop the substation to modern standards, we've purchased the small neighbouring property to the west.

The new indoor/outdoor substation will be located on the expanded substation property and will connect to the nearby existing transmission line.

North Surrey is one of the fastest-growing areas in the Lower Mainland.

The old Scott Road substation was decommissioned in 2024. The new, modernized substation will support the area's growth by providing power for up to 17,500 additional homes.

Starting October 2025, we'll remove trees and other vegetation from the property, complete geotechnical studies, and remove the building from the newly acquired property.

We're continuing to work on the design of the new substation. Early construction work is expected to begin in 2026.
