Indigenous career exploration program
Explore a future career with us
The Indigenous career exploration program provides support for Indigenous candidates to explore their skills in relation to the opportunities available at BC Hydro.
We're committed to honouring Indigenous history and culture and working toward reconciliation and respect with Indigenous Peoples. We know that Indigenous Peoples – their perspectives, ideas, and expertise – help us make better decisions and better understand our customers.
How it works
By participating in this program, you're not applying directly to a role, but will have access to pre-employment support services including:
- One-to-one connection with our recruitment specialist to explore your skills as they relate to BC Hydro roles.
- High-level career guidance.
- "Get to know BC Hydro" information sessions about what we do at BC Hydro and what it's like to work here.
- ”Pathways to employment” workshops to help you create your application package and prepare for interviews.
The program is available year-round and candidates can apply at any time.
A workplace powered by you
Our workplace is collaborative, diverse and inclusive – welcoming your unique experience and worldview.
We create safe spaces. RAIN, an employee-led network for Indigenous employees, connects and supports Indigenous BC Hydro employees across the province.
We include and involve people. Our Indigenous Advisory Council provides feedback and advice on human resources practices and communication in the recruitment and development of Indigenous employees.
We value different ways of being. In addition to vacation time, we offer Indigenous employees up to two days of paid leave per year to observe or participate in traditional Indigenous activities.
