Alouette Licence Renewals

The Alouette Project is part of the Alouette-Stave-Ruskin hydroelectric system located north of Maple Ridge and Mission. The Alouette Project includes:

  • Alouette Dam
  • Alouette Lake Reservoir
  • Alouette Tunnel, a power tunnel from Alouette Lake Reservoir to Stave Lake Reservoir
  • Alouette Generating Station
Alouette-Stave-Ruskin System

We have three licences associated with the Alouette Project, one for water storage and two for water diversion.

Water storage licence

  • FWL124726 authorizes us to store water in Alouette Lake Reservoir (100% of storage).

Water diversion licences

  • FWL124724 and FWL124725 authorize us to divert water from Alouette Lake Reservoir to Stave Lake Reservoir and account for 30% and 70% of diversion respectively.

We are renewing licence FWL124724 as it has an expiry date of December 31, 2018. We're not asking for changes to the existing licence conditions or facility footprint as part of the renewals. We will continue to operate the facilities in accordance with our Water Licence conditions and Orders. Our rights under the licence are protected until the Comptroller of Water Rights makes a decision regarding the renewal application.

The other licences do not need to be renewed as they do not have expiry dates.
