Funding opportunities for climate action projects

The Sustainable Communities program funds or co-funds a wide range of projects and programs to support action on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The goal of these initiatives is to inform and inspire leadership on energy efficiency, energy literacy, and low carbon electrification. 

Eligibility requirements

Funding for project implementation is available to:

  1. Industry and professional associations with either a head office or regional office in BC.
  2. Local governments (municipalities and regional districts) within the BC Hydro service territory with:
    • A community population over 75,000. This could include partnerships between regional districts and municipalities.
    • A community population over 20,000 with a Council-approved Community Energy and Emissions Plan and demonstrated leadership in community energy and climate action.

Eligibility requirements apply unless otherwise agreed upon.
