Helicopter work on power lines high above Sansum Narrows

BC Hydro crews inspect aviation warning markers on a transmission line using a helicopter.

Technicians were lowered to the markers from helicopters. Crews checked and replaced worn out or missing markers along a 7,000-foot span of transmission line that crosses Sansum Narrows between Duncan and Salt Spring Island.

The inspections began at the end of May and were completed in early June. The safety markers on the line crossing Sansum Narrows are prone to damage because of the high winds in the area.
