Knowing the distance: An electrical safety quiz

Stay safe and understand the risks around electricity

Spring has a way of pulling us outdoors.

The days get longer, projects start piling up, and suddenly everyone's back to gardening, trimming trees, washing windows, or rolling out ladders and tools. Construction sites wake back up, seasonal crews get busy, often staffed by students, and outdoor work ramps up across our communities.

With all that activity comes something many of us don't always think about: power lines. As safe and reliable as our electrical system is, there are still high voltages running through transmission lines that move power from generating stations to our cities, and through distribution lines that deliver electricity to our neighbourhoods. Getting too close, without realizing the risks, can have serious consequences.

That's why electrical safety matters. We offer free electrical safety training for workers, and anyone working around electricity should know the 3 keys to electrical safety. But safety isn't just for job sites, it applies at home, at play, and everywhere in between.

So how much do you really know about staying safe around power lines and electrical equipment?

Here's your chance to find out. Take our quiz to test your knowledge, uncover critical gaps you may not know you have, and learn information that could prevent serious injuries, or even save a life. You'll be enterted to win $500 to Canadian Tire. [Contest Rules]
