Winter weather has arrived across B.C., but seldom has it snowed so hard – in such a short period – as it did in some areas of the province over the past week. We start with a first-person look at the 'storm of a lifetime' snowfall at Vernon that closed schools for the first time in decades and closed Highway 1 near Hope. It's a good time to remember that outages can occur anytime, and that it's vital to take steps to be prepared, both at home and on the road. And for a change of pace, we look at a customer in Dawson Creek who uses solar panels to generate enough power to more than pay for his BC Hydro bills all year long.

Crews across the Fraser Valley worked to restore power to areas hit by a winter storm, especially between Chilliwack and Hope. At the height of the storm, 14,000 customers in the area near Hope were out of power as heavy snowfall and ice buildup damaged trees and branches, falling onto power lines.
