EN14 Strategies, Current Actions and Future Plan for Managing Impacts on Biodiversity
BC Hydro manages biodiversity through the application of a variety of environmental programs including Water Use Plan delivery, Fish and Wildlife Compensation programs, Capital program environmental impact assessment and management, and regular operations and maintanence work. Specific high or repeatable risks are managed through a series of strategic programs (e.g. Entrainment, Passage, TGP etc.), or environmental best management practices.
Federally listed Species at Risk (SAR) interactions are managed by assessing the risk to the species, avoiding or addressing the impact appropriately, and where the risk is significant, becoming formally involved in recovery planning and implementation. BC Hydro tracks SAR risks within its Environmental Management System program, which collates response measures and tracks ongoing associated risk.
