GST-exempt EV charging for First Nations on reserve lands

BC Hydro's public EV charging site located in Chehalis Band Store, Agassiz B.C.

How GST-exempt EV charging works

If you're a First Nations EV driver, you may be eligible for GST-exempt charging at our public chargers located on reserve lands. This means that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) won't be added to the cost of your charging session at eligible sites.

While our base charging rate remains unchanged, the final cost doesn't include GST. Provincial Sales Tax (PST) is already exempt on EV charging for all our customers.

Visit Charging rates and roaming to see our base charging rates and learn more about our EV charging fees.

  • Provide a copy of their Indian Status Card: A Secure Certificate of Indian Status or Certificate of Indian Status.
