Mica 5 & 6: What's happening
Installation of two new generating units
There are five main steps to the installation of each generating unit at the Mica Generating Station:
- Install draft tube and embed in concrete.
- Install spiral case that houses the turbine and embed it in concrete.
- Deliver and install the new turbine.
- Install the generator.
- Supply and install the switchgear and other electrical equipment. Commission and test the generating unit.
A new capacitor station
A new capacitor station, needed to maintain reliable transmission, was constructed near Seymour Arm north of Shuswap Lake.
