Monthly Team Power Smart Contest – February 2012
British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority ("BC Hydro")
1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. This contest ("Contest") is open to residents of British Columbia who are aged nineteen (19) years or older as of February 1, 2012 and otherwise comply with all the conditions of these rules. See Rule 5 for additional eligibility requirements.
The Contest begins on February 1, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time ("PT") and ends February 29, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. PT (the "Contest Period").
There are two ways to enter:
a. Access the Team Power Smart web page on the bchydro.com website and join Team Power Smart by completing the online form and committing to a 10% electricity reduction goal and enter the correct answer to the Team Power Smart Celebrity Monthly Question (available on our Team Power Smart Contests page) in the promo code area of your Members Tool Box. No purchase is necessary to join Team Power Smart. Multiple promo code submissions will be counted as one entry.
b. If an eligible entrant has already joined Team Power Smart before the start of the Contest Period, then that entrant must log into their account and enter the correct answer to the Team Power Smart Celebrity monthly question (available on our Team Power Smart Contests page) in the promo code area of your Members Tool Box.
No purchase is necessary to join Team Power Smart. Multiple promo code submissions will be counted as one entry.
LIMIT one (1) entry per person regardless of the method of entry. By submitting an entry, entrants acknowledge that they have read, understood, are eligible for and agreed to abide by these Official Contest Rules.
2. PRIZE: There are two (2) prizes available to be won – one (1) of two (2) $250 CAD gift cards to Sears Canada. Retail value is $250 CAD. BC Hydro reserves the right to substitute a prize of equivalent value if any component of the prize cannot be awarded as described.
3. DRAW: Random draws will be held on or around March 5, 2012 to select two (2) entries from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The chances of winning are dependent upon the total number of eligible entries received.
4. NOTIFICATION: Each selected entrant will be notified by telephone or email using the personal information provided when signing up to join Team Power Smart. To be declared a winner, each selected entrant must correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone.
At least two attempts over the ten business days following the draw will be made to contact each selected entrant. If a selected entrant cannot be contacted in this manner, that entrant will be disqualified and another entrant will be selected from the remaining eligible entrants. BC Hydro is not responsible for the failure for any reason whatsoever, including its own negligence, of a selected entrant to receive notification or for BC Hydro to receive a selected entrant's response.
Before being declared a winner, each selected entrant must sign BC Hydro's declaration and release form to:
(a) accept the prize as awarded and confirm compliance with these Contest rules;
(b) release, waive and forever discharge all right, in contract or tort, to damages against BC Hydro or its affiliates for any loss or injury sustained as a result of accepting the prize, and
(c) consent to the use of his/her name, address, photograph or likeness for any publicity purpose connected with this Contest, without any further compensation, other than the prize offered.
The signed declaration and release form may be returned to BC Hydro by mail, fax or email (in scanned PDF format) and must be received by BC Hydro within four days of delivery thereof to the selected entrant, failing which that entrant will be disqualified and BC Hydro may, in its sole and exclusive discretion, select another entry from remaining eligible entries or, alternatively, may elect not to award the prize.
5. ELIGIBILITY: No purchase necessary. Contest open to B.C. residents nineteen (19) years of age or older. In any event, BC Hydro shall have exclusive discretion to deem which entries are valid and meet all the conditions of these rules.
6. MISCELLANEOUS: Entrants who have not complied with these Official Contest Rules are subject to disqualification at the exclusive discretion of BC Hydro. Prizes are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions in cash or otherwise, except at BC Hydro's sole and exclusive discretion.
All decisions of BC Hydro are final in all matters relating to this Contest. No correspondence will be entered into by BC Hydro with respect to this Contest, except with the selected entrant.
BC Hydro reserves the right to terminate or amend this Contest at any time without prior notice, if it considers that any factor may potentially interfere with its proper conduct as contemplated by these Official Contest Rules. This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.
7. INTERNET DISCLAIMER: BC Hydro and its agents are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received by BC Hydro on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer, related to or resulting from downloading any materials in this promotion.
BC Hydro reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug, or other cause beyond the reasonable control of BC Hydro or its agents corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, BC Hydro reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: All intellectual property, including but not limited to copyright and trademarks, in all of the promotional materials, web pages and source code related to the Contest are owned by BC Hydro. All rights are reserved. Copying or unauthorized use of any such copyrighted material or trademarks without the express written consent of BC Hydro is strictly prohibited.
9. PRIVACY: The personal information provided by entrants to participate in this Contest is collected to sign up entrants as Team Power Smart members, provide the resources and tools available to Team Power Smart members, administer the contest in accordance with these Official Contest Rules, and contact the selected entrant. If an entrant agrees to receive special offers and updates, the entrant's email address will be used to send these communications via email.
