BC Hydro's smart metering system contracts are awarded through a market driven, competitive and transparent process. To ensure evaluation and selection is compliant and fair, BC Hydro can only review proposals it receives through BC Bid.  Capgemini will provide project management services and systems integration, along with the information technology and telecommunications to support the integration of the smart metering system into key BC Hydro business functions such as outage management and customer billing. Capgemini brings extensive specialized expertise having worked with other utilities in North America to implement their smart metering programs.
 B.C.-base Corix, will be exchanging the meters at homes and businesses. All installers will be in well marked vehicles and will be wearing photo identification. Corix has performed over 10 million meter exchanges, other device installations and retrofits for various gas, water and electric utilities.
 Itron will provide its OpenWay® smart meters, run over a multi-application communication network powered by Cisco. The associated system software and meter data management system are included in the agreement, providing a cost effective, end-to-end solution.
