The Standing Offer Program is intended to encourage the development of clean or renewable power projects of no more than 15 megawatts throughout British Columbia. The program streamlines the process for small developers selling electricity to BC Hydro, simplifies the contract and decreases transaction costs for developers while remaining cost-effective for rate payers. The Standing Offer Program supports the principles and policies set out in the 2007 BC Energy Plan The Standing Offer Program Rules [PDF, 2.8 MB] explain the eligibility requirements, the payment price offered by BC Hydro for electricity delivered under the Standing Offer Program, the interconnections requirements, and the application process.
Who Can ApplyTo be eligible to apply for the Standing Offer Program, the developer and the project must meet a number of requirements.
Application Review ProcessThere are several steps in the review of an application from the time it is received by BC Hydro to the Electricity Purchase Agreement offer stage.
