Industrial Transmission

The Power Smart Partner Program provides eligible organizations a comprehensive and integrated approach to sustainable energy management [PDF, 179 Kb]. Whether your business goal is to reduce operating costs, improve competitiveness and profitability, improve facility environments or show corporate leadership through environmental practices, we have programs and resources designed to meet your needs.

Energy Manager

An energy manager can be a key business asset, giving your organization a competitive advantage in the marketplace. As the "energy champion" within your company, an energy manager provides leadership and guidance on energy management issues.

Energy Manager Consortium

An alternative funding option to participate in the Energy Manager program is now available. In addition to receiving Power Smart funding towards the cost of an Energy Manager, you also benefit by prorating the costs of energy management services with other interested organizations.

Energy Studies and Audits

An energy study or audit will uncover opportunities, analyze potential solutions, and propose recommendations that will reduce your energy costs. An energy audit provides an ideal starting point to prioritize which systems offer the greatest opportunity for further study. An energy study provides you with the data required to build a business case to implement energy efficiency projects.

To find out more, download the Energy Studies and Audits Overview [PDF, 156 Kb], contact us or call 1 866 453-6400.

New Plant Design

If you are expanding existing facilities or building a new industrial plant in B.C., contact BC Hydro to explore opportunities to make it as energy efficient as possible.

Metering and Instrumentation Lending Library (MILL)

Data collection is the only way to understand if your plant is operating efficiently. The MILL can help by providing metering and instrumentation equipment, free of charge, so you can uncover energy-saving opportunities.

To find out more about the program, download the Metering and Instrumentation Lending Library Overview [PDF, 103 Kb], contact us or call 1 866 453-6400.

Transmission Service Rate (TSR) Incentives

TSR Incentives provide transmission customers with capital incentives to implement energy efficiency projects. The incentives are intended for customers that have exhausted all or most of their Tier 2 energy and require a stronger price signal than Tier 1 pricing to carry out energy efficiency projects. Take advantage of TSR Incentives now and receive up to $500,000 towards your next energy efficiency project and further reduce your energy bill.

To find out more about the program, download the Transmission Service Rate Incentives Overview [PDF, 234 Kb], contact us or call 1 866 453-6400.

Monitoring, Targeting and Reporting

Monitoring, Targeting and Reporting (MT&R) provides a platform for continuous improvement in energy management. MT&R turns energy data into information and allows organizations to optimize their performance capabilities.

To find out more, download the Monitoring, Targeting and Reporting Overview [PDF, 277 Kb], contact us or call 1 866 453-6400.

Motor Management Planning

Motor management is the set of processes that facilities use when managing their motor populations. These processes govern the way organizations manage motor failures, motor purchases and motor reliability.

Motor management planning will reduce the cost of motor ownership by reviewing your facilities current motor management practices, analyze areas of opportunity, and then create a plant specific motor management plan that integrates best practices in motor management.

Employee Energy Awareness

There is an enormous opportunity to save energy through employee awareness and education. In fact, engaging your employees is probably one of the most important steps you can take to identify and sustain energy savings. This program provides industrial customers with resources and tools to develop and implement an effective employee energy awareness campaign.

Pump Systems Initiative

Pump system changes can save 30 to 50 per cent of the energy used by a pump. And inefficient pump systems don't just waste your energy budget; they drain your maintenance budget too. The energy they waste doesn't vanish – it goes directly to degrade plant equipment. But eliminating these inefficiencies in large plants is a complex task requiring a system-wide assessment.

The Pump Systems Initiative helps facilities assess their plant pump systems. Our contracted assessment specialists visit a plant site, conduct a detailed assessment together with plant staff, and identify the priority pumps systems for further study through our Energy Studies initiative.

To find out more about the program, download the Pump Systems Initiative Overview [PDF, 71 Kb], contact us or call 1 866 453-6400. For a detailed description of the plant assessment process, download the Pump Systems Assessment Guide [PDF, 689 Kb].

Process Control Initiative

Process systems are among the largest energy users in industrial operations. The process control initiative provides funding to help you improve the efficiency of your process systems and achieve cost savings.
