The High-Performance Building Program
BC Hydro Power Smart is working with building owners, and the BC development and design industry to create high-performance, energy-efficient buildings that cost less to operate, have lower environmental impacts, are more profitable, and are healthier, more comfortable places in which to live, work and play.
The High-Performance Building Program provides financial incentives, resources and technical assistance to help developers of new commercial and multi-unit residential building projects.
The program offers three different Power Smart solutions tailored to meet a diverse range of needs for new building developments.
- Whole Building Design
- Energy-Efficient Lighting Design
- In-Suite ENERGY STAR® Package
Whole Building Design
The Power Smart Whole Building Design offer is for new commercial or multi-unit residential buildings over 50,000 square feet in the early stages of the design process. Whole Building Design is a customized building approach that looks at your building as a single, highly integrated system to create a high-performance building at a lower cost.
Energy-Efficient Lighting Design
Lighting accounts for about half of the total electricity use in most commercial buildings. By participating in the Energy-Efficient Lighting Design offer, you'll be able to develop a building that costs less to operate and maintain, and is a bright and productive space where occupants will enjoy spending time whether it's for work, study or leisure activity. The Energy-Efficient Lighting Design offer is for buildings over 6,000 square feet such as warehouses, offices, retail, multi-unit residential buildings, and government facilities, etc.
In-Suite ENERGY STAR® Package Rebates
Install In-Suite ENERGY STAR Packages in your new multi-unit residential building and receive a rebate up to $200 per suite. You'll benefit from enhanced marketability of your project, while future building occupants can be assured that the ENERGY STAR package will save energy and reduce their energy bills.
You can also combine the In-Suite ENERGY STAR Package with the Whole Building Design or Energy-Efficient Lighting Design offers.
