80 PLUS Computer Power Supply

Whether you are a computer vendor, system integrator or are responsible for purchasing computers within your organization, be sure to specify 80 PLUS computer power supply. With 80 PLUS, you ensure your computer power supply is at least 80 per cent efficient and will on average save 88 kWh per year in a computer and 280 kWh per year in a server over standard power supplies. This equals approximately $18 in savings over four years for each personal computer and $70 for each desk top server.

BC Hydro is a sponsor of the 80 PLUS Program which was designed and is administered by Ecos Consulting. The Program encourages computer manufacturers to recommend and install the more efficient power supply by providing funding to manufacturers to offset the slightly higher initial cost.
