ON THE ROAD TO CHANGE

The increasing public desire to reduce carbon emissions and transportation dependency on petroleum products is driving public interest and policy to vehicles powered by clean energy alternatives.

BC Hydro is planning for that shift.

Planning for a future with plug-in vehicles

With 93 per cent of our electricity coming from clean or renewable resources available throughout B.C., plug-in electric vehicles have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector.

In anticipation of these vehicles becoming more common on our roads, BC Hydro has undertaken numerous initiatives that will allow us to gain a more complete picture of how these vehicles will operate, the demands that may be placed on our infrastructure and the support required by our customers.

This video, "The Life Electric"(5:39) was produced by Transport Canada and shows the current state of electric vehicles (EVs) and describes how they can fit into our transportation system.
