Power the GamesWe know that you can be a conservation champion in your community, so BC Hydro’s community outreach representatives are bringing the spirit of the games to you.

From May 2009 to January 2010, we will be traveling to over 50 communities throughout the province. We'll show you how to save like a champion so together we can Power the Games with energy conservation. Come and experience the Olympic story and see how it relates to our province and our energy future.

The Power the Games Tour will consist of an interactive audiovisual experience inside a conservation lab. You will learn about the past, present and future of the Olympics and energy conservation in B.C. When you're done, we'll test your Power Smarts and you'll have the chance to Join Team Power Smart and commit to using 10% less electricity.

Use our Interactive Map to see when the Tour will be visiting an event near you.

If 210,000 people in British Columbia join team Power Smart and reduce their electricity consumption by just 10%, we could save enough to Power the 2010 Winter Games!

Outreach and kids at a story time eventStory Time

Getting the next generation excited about saving energy is one of our most important jobs. We visit libraries, daycare centres, and family events throughout British Columbia to tell stories and chat with kids about how they can conserve at home.

Science Camps

We visit the province’s science camps to teach students all about how electricity is made and used, why it’s so important to conserve, and how they can lead their families, schools, and communities in the effort to save.

Community Cruiser

We take our conservation message to the streets with our vans and hybrid cars. Keep an eye out for our vehicles, team members, and interactive demonstrations in the high-traffic areas of your community.

Retail Events

We partner with a variety of retailers to host in-store events. We're ready to share information about how to prepare for emergencies and how you can learn good habits for conserving energy. These events also provide you with an opportunity to save money with rebates on energy-efficient products available at the store.

Home ShowsOutreach display at a home show

Everyone in B.C. planning for a new home or making renovations to their existing home are in a great position to benefit from smart energy conservation. Look for our Community Outreach teams at home shows so you can find out about all of the opportunities and rebates available to you.

Media

We appreciate being able to speak with you in person, and our message about energy conservation is important, so we also actively seek out opportunities to talk about energy issues through print, TV, internet, and radio outlets.

If you'd like us to come to your community event, or know of a place we should visit, we’d love to hear from you. Just send us a note to let us know.
