BC Hydro is working on making its generation stations energy efficient through both demand side and supply side conservation initiatives. Upgrading to current technology and controlling operations of lighting, HVAC, and auxiliary systems (pumps, motors, etc.) and replacing older generation components (stators) has resulted in energy savings of 17.1 GWh in fiscal 2011. The fiscal 2011 actual excludes 94 GWh related to the new Revelstoke 5 unit that went into commercial service in December 2010.
