How do I read my meter?
How your electricity is measured
Electricity consumption or usage is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). A kilowatt is made up of 1000 watts. For example, using a 60-watt light bulb for 1000 hours uses 60 kWh of electricity.
Your usage is monitored and captured through your meter.
How to read your meter
Your smart meter displays the total electricity you have used since the meter was installed, measured in kilowatt-hours. This information is shown when '01' appears in the top left corner of the display.
For each billing period, your bill includes your meter readings for that period and your total kilowatt-hours used.
Did you know?
Each digital meter in our system comes with a seven-digit identification number that can be found on the actual meter, and at top of the “Meter reading” section of your bill.
