BC Hydro flood control updates for Columbia & Kootenay regions – operations returning to normal
Posted by Jennifer Walker-Larsen
As of July 25, 2012 the high water conditions in the Columbia and Kootenay basins peaked and are continuing to recede. As a result, BC Hydro's Columbia and Kootenay 2012 flood control operations are returning to typical operations. Columbia River flows downstream from the Kootenay River confluence continue to drop and the Arrow Lakes reservoir water level is within its normal operating range. As a result of the improving conditions, BC Hydro will no longer be sending out daily updates on BC Hydro's flood control operations for the Columbia and Kootenay Regions.
BC Hydro will continue to share Columbia Reservoir water level information and a weekly forecast in our regular Columbia Reservoir Updates distributed by email on Fridays weekly throughout the summer and bi-weekly throughout the winter. Our Upper Columbia Reservoir update includes information for Kinbasket and Arrow Lakes reservoirs; the Lower Columbia update includes water level information for Arrow Lakes Reservoir, Kootenay Lake, and Duncan Reservoir.
If you are interested in receiving our regular Upper or Lower Columbia Reservoir updates and DO NOT currently receive this information by email, please contact us.
You can also visit BC Hydro's website for current reservoir level information. If you do not have access to the internet, please call 1 877 924 2444.
