Trees can be purchased for $49.99, will be available for pick-up in April

Vancouver's goal by 2020 is to add 150,000 trees to the city of Vancouver. And as part of that initiative, the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Society is offering Team Power Smart members a big discount on trees.

If you're a Team Power Smart member, you can order a tree today for $49.99 (tax included), a price that amounts to a 50% saving over the usual cost of the trees. And you can select from several different varieties of the trees, from early-blooming to late-blooming varieties.

Cherry blossom trees grow well in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. The trees being sold must be planted on private land.

Order trees today on the festival society website. Trees will be available for pick-up at VanDusen Botanical Garden on the weekend of April 30 to May 1, 2016. The festival is also offering free hands-on tree planning and care workshops, along with film screenings of the Canadian Oscar award-winning animated film The Man Who Planted Trees.
