Announcing the finalists: 2014 Power Smart Excellence Awards
Power Smart to celebrate B.C. businesses big on commitment, innovation
A school district that has installed real-time metering and energy management software in all its high schools.
A ski resort that has tied bonus targets to conservation goals for all full-time employees.
A national retailer who has sold nearly 24,000 energy-efficient appliances in the last two years.
These are just three examples of the outstanding initiatives and accomplishments B.C.'s businesses have delivered in the name of energy conservation. And it's time to start celebrating those achievements with the 2014 Power Smart Excellence Awards.
The nominations have been evaluated, judging sessions completed and the news is out: the finalists in this year's awards have been announced.
What are the Power Smart Excellence Awards?
The biennial awards recognize BC Hydro's best-in-class customers across a variety of energy conservation categories. This year, the awards program celebrates its tenth year — at the same time Power Smart itself is celebrating 25 years of energy efficiency efforts.
"The awards showcase companies that are leading the way on energy conservation and helping us all understand how to improve," says Alicia Henderson, program manager. "We hope their stories will inspire others and motivate all of our customers to explore how energy efficiency can benefit their businesses and save money."
Award winners will be announced in October across ten categories. This year, two new categories have been added: Outstanding Energy Efficiency Project and Conservation Awareness and Engagement. Winners are featured in a promotional campaign and have access to a promotional toolkit to help them further promote their energy efficiency accomplishments.
