Multi-dwelling/Commercial Connections

Requests for connections to multiple family dwellings, small or large businesses, other utilities, and municipal services will usually be referred to a BC Hydro designer.

Your connection will probably be referred to a designer if:

  • The main switch is greater than 200 amps
  • The service is 120/280 V, 347/600 V or 4 kV or greater
  • Services are not simple point A to B connections
  • There are possible mid-span connections
  • An extension or modification of BC Hydro's electrical system is required
  • A Three Phase service is required

Customers requiring more than 35 kV or more than 5,000 kW please refer to the Industrial Connections page.

To initiate a connection please contact the Electric Service Co-ordination center near you by calling 1 877 520 1355.

Connection times

Connection may take between 2-12 months due to the planning required for a more complex project.
