Incentives designed to help identify and implement energy conservation measures

FortisBC's Industrial Optimization Program offers incentives to large industrial customers for a broad range of energy efficiency improvement projects. The program is designed to help customers reach their energy efficiency goals, from the identification of energy-saving opportunities through to the implementation of energy conservation measures.

FortisBC can support projects across the full spectrum of industrial subsectors, including pulp and paper, food and beverage, manufacturing, wood products, oil and gas, agriculture, and mining. Incentives range from a few thousand dollars for a small plant-wide audit to $1 million for a large retrofit, facility expansion or new construction project.

The program provides incentives to natural gas customers who operate eligible industrial facilities consuming more than 10,000 gigajoules (GJ) of natural gas annually to:

  • Conduct plant-wide energy audits
  • Conduct feasibility studies
  • Install new, energy efficient equipment

FortisBC electric and municipal wholesale customers in the Okanagan and Kootenays who operate eligible industrial facilities consuming more than 3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually are also eligible for the program.

In addition to providing financial incentives to encourage energy efficiency, FortisBC has introduced an approved consultant list. These consultants will support customers in their search for qualified engineering consultants to perform plant-wide audits and feasibility studies for the Industrial Optimization Program.

Visit the program webpage for more details. If you have questions or would like to be listed as an approved consultant, please contact FortisBC by phone at 1 866 884 8833 or by email.

Since 2009, BC Hydro and FortisBC have been working together to help British Columbians save energy and have collaborated on over 30 energy conservation programs across all customer sectors.
