BC Hydro offers free Electrical Safety Training for police and ambulance personnel who face electrical hazards on the job.

Who should attend

Police and ambulance personnel who respond to emergencies involving high-voltage power lines, either overhead or underground.

Program details

Learn the basics of how electricity behaves, how to keep yourself, your colleagues and the public safe during an incident that involves electrical hazards, how to evaluate risks associated with working around electrical hazards and identify the decisions that need to be made when working around electrical hazards.

To register

Call the Electrical Industry Training Institute (EITI) at 604 590 8911 or 1 866 590 8911. Workshops can be held at your place of work or at EITI in Surrey, B.C. A minimum of 8 participants is required to hold a workshop; however even if you do not have 8 participants, call EITI to have your name added to a 'wait list' and a session will be held once there are enough participants.
