Power outages & disconnections BC Hydro will keep power on for as long as possible in communities affected by evacuation orders and alerts. Power will only be disconnected when there is an immediate threat to BC Hydro or BC Transmission Corporation infrastructure, which presents safety concerns for the public or responders dealing with forest fires. Re-entry into evacuated areas Residents returning to evacuated areas are asked to call 1-888-POWERON or *49376 on their cell phones if they experience any problems with their power. Safety The safety of our crews and the public remains a priority and we are working closely with local authorities to ensure that we are taking all precautions as we enter affected areas. Residents who choose to remain in areas under evacuation orders should be aware that BC Hydro is restricted from entering these areas to restore power service if an outage occurs. Never go near or touch a fallen power line. Always assume that a line and anything contacting it is energized. Stay at least 10 metres (33 feet) away at all times and do not attempt to remove debris surrounding the line. If you see a fallen power line, report the exact location to 1 888 POWERON. |
