How it Works

To be eligible for the Product Incentive Program, your business must: - Spend less than $200,000 annually on electricity from BC Hydro and not have a BC Hydro key account manager, or
- Be a residential strata customer (applying for projects in common areas only)* or
- Be a business customer of the City of New Westminster electric utility.
Private homes, home-based businesses and other Rate 1101 accounts are not eligible. If you are unsure of your eligibility, call the Power Smart Helpdesk at 1 866 522 4713 before purchasing product. Installations in new construction projects are not eligible for incentives under this program. Your project must: - Meet the minimum criteria of $50 total financial incentives per application.
- Only use approved products identified in BC Hydro's e.Catalog
- Be installed by qualified installers.
- Be completed and application submitted within 120 days of the product invoice date.
Four easy steps- Review your facility for energy savings opportunities.
- Purchase and install products.
- Follow BC Hydro's Installation Standards [PDF, 45 Kb].
- Products can be installed by:
- Power Smart Alliance members.
- Qualified in-house staff – internal staff can complete screw-in applications. A certified staff electrician with a permit is required for all hardwired projects.
- Your preferred contractor – if your contractor is not a Power Smart Alliance member, he or she must complete and submit the application form [PDF, 40 Kb] for approval before you purchase the product.
- Complete installation and online application within 120 days of invoice date and mail all invoices and permits to:
- Receive incentive: it will be mailed once your paperwork has been processed.
Additional information*Common areas of a residential strata are the areas billed on the strata's BC Hydro account, not areas billed to individual suites or units.
