Weather Monitoring Stations

Objective

To confirm, or assist in determining, an area's ungulate winter-range ranking, and/or to characterize the meteorological conditions of a study area for a PWFWCP project.

Study area Several sites throughout the Williston Reservoir watershed.
Methods

Remote monitoring stations were established at selected sites. Stations consisted of a 3-m collapsible tower and sensors to measure snow depth, ambient temperature, relative humidity, wind (speed and direction), and/or precipitation. Microclimate variables measured at a site were dependent on the objective for the site.

Study period December 1998 - present
Project status Ongoing (stations to characterize project study areas only)
