Mackenzie Migratory Bird Monitoring Project

Objective

To determine the status and trends of neotropical migratory songbird populations in the northern Rocky Mountain Trench (near Mackenzie), and to identify those species that may be at risk from habitat loss and degradation.

Study area

Mugaha Marsh, 10 km northwest of Mackenzie BC.

Methods

Annually, neotropical songbirds and other bird species are captured in mist-nets and banded during their fall (Jul-Sep) migration period.
