Land Acquistion

Objective

To secure, and thus protect from development, privately-owned parcels of land that have high wildlife value within the Williston Reservoir watershed.

Study area

Methods Using funds provided by the PWFWCP, privately-owned properties are purchased by the Nature Trust of BC. Property titles are held by the Nature Trust but the lands are leased back to the Ministry of Environment through a 99-year agreement, which ensures that the lands are managed for the benefit of wildlife in the area.
Study period

1990 to present

Project status Ongoing
